Tile Grades Explained

At Tile Cash & Carry, we offer a range of tile grades to accommodate different budgets and project requirements. Understanding the differences between tile grades can help you make the best choice for your application.

1st Grade Tiles

Our highest-quality tiles, manufactured to strict quality standards with minimal shade variation and no noticeable defects. Ideal for customers seeking a premium finish and consistent appearance.

2nd Grade Tiles

Quality tiles that may contain minor cosmetic imperfections, slight shade variations, or small manufacturing defects. These tiles remain suitable for most residential and commercial installations and offer excellent value for money.

3rd Grade Tiles

Economical tiles that may have more noticeable imperfections, colour variations, chips, or other defects. These are a popular choice for budget-conscious projects, utility areas, workshops, storerooms, and applications where appearance is less critical.

Important Information

Please note that 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade tiles are sold voetstoots (“as is”) and are not covered by claims relating to visible defects, shade variations, or grading characteristics.

We strongly recommend purchasing 5%–10% extra tiles to allow for cutting, breakages during installation, future repairs, and the possibility of damaged tiles within lower-grade batches.
